after and before
This is my latest work, a chair I’ve re-covered with a packing blanket which is usually used to wrap goods in during transportation. I like that these blankets are made from recycled materials. Just my thing;). I added some applications and embroidery.

This time I covered everything including the arm rests and the frame, something I generally don’t do. I found a number of these chairs at a fleamarket and I like the model but not the colour and texture of the frame so I came up with this solution…

It looked like this before.
I have been re-upholstering chairs and stools with blankets for a while now.

These stools were featured as a ‘before and after’ on Design Sponge a while ago.

A desk chair, now living in Japan.

More stools…

Last but not least: my Pierre Paulin chair which was also featured on Design Sponge with a tutorial!

This looks amazing! I like that you covered the whole frame. All of them look great, but the Pierre Paulin is my favorite. Have a nice weekend! Monika

Geweldig ik ben weg van je werk, van die saaie funktionele stoelen maar jij kunst, heerlijk om naar te kijken, want dat doe je met stoelen, je kijkt er meer naar dan je er op zit, reken maar na!

Jane … JANE …
A part of me wants to RUN to my studio – this post is RIDICULOUSLY inspiring.
Another part of me can’t seem to go and leave my computer – my eyes are glued to the screen.
I read the comments before mine. I don’t think I could pick a favorite. Every one of them is a concoction of gifts for my eyes. I am SOOOO happy to be alive during the era of the internet. Had this been thirty years ago I never would have seen your FABULOUS chairs. Carolina
Jane,
Your work is fantastic. Some day soon one of your chairs will make the trip all the way to the United States to my house. Until then, I just keep looking at your beautiful photos.
